No one eats candy for nutrition.
It’s fun. It’s nostalgic. It’s that little joy you sneak into your kid’s lunchbox or pull out during a road trip. (Yes, even the little joys matter.) That’s why every piece of candy we stock is completely dye-free.
Fun treats shouldn’t come at the cost of your health, especially when it’s avoidable. And the truth is artificial food dyes just aren’t worth it.
Here’s why we leave them out & why we think you’ll be glad we do:
Artificial food dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1 are synthetic colorings derived from petroleum. They’re added to everything from cereals to sodas to gummy worms to make them brighter, bolder, and more "exciting" on a shelf.
The problem? These dyes have been linked to a range of concerns, including behavioral issues in children, allergic reactions, and potential long-term health risks. Kids just turn into different little humans with this stuff!
In fact, countries like the UK have banned or restricted the use of some dyes, while requiring warning labels on others. They are still stocked everywhere in the US, but that doesn’t mean we have to.
We don’t carry dye-free candy to be trendy. We do it for your family's health.
Kids are more vulnerable. Many studies link artificial dyes to hyperactivity and behavioral changes, especially in younger children.
Natural color is enough. Fruit and veggie-based colorants (like beet, turmeric, or spirulina) may be subtle, but they still make beautiful treats without the baggage.
Our candy is still delicious (as many of you know by now.) Skipping the dyes doesn’t mean skipping the fun. Our gummies, chews, and chocolates still hit the sweet spot.
We are well aware that candy isn’t health food. But we think it can still be clean.
Our goal is to make it easy for families, teachers, gift-givers, and treat-yourself shoppers to find something joyful and dye-free without the second-guessing.
Colorful enough to bring the joy. Clean enough to keep your standards.
That’s how we do it at Tare.
