If you love the ritual of a morning latte but want to skip the caffeine crash, this adaptogenic version is for you. Maca powder brings a malty, almost butterscotch-like sweetness. Cordyceps mushroom powder has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy and stamina. And cacao powder ties it all together with a rich, chocolatey flavor that makes this feel like a treat rather than a health drink.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp maca powder (gelatinized)
- 1 tsp cordyceps mushroom powder
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon
- 1½ cups milk of choice
- 1 to 2 tsp Duck River honey or TN maple syrup
*Bolded ingredients are products we typically carry at Tare Bulk Foods.
Directions
- Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Whisk in the maca, cordyceps, cacao powder, and cinnamon until completely smooth with no lumps.
- Continue warming for 2 to 3 minutes, whisking frequently.
- Remove from heat, stir in your sweetener of choice, and pour into a mug.
- For a frothy latte, blend in a blender for 15 seconds or use a milk frother.
Notes
- Gelatinized maca powder dissolves more easily than raw maca and is gentler on the stomach.
- This drink does contain some natural caffeine from the cacao, but it is much less than a cup of coffee.
- Add a scoop of coconut cream powder for extra richness.
