Ingredients
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 3 cups water
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom (ground)
- 2 tablespoons red roses
- 3 tablespoons Duck River honey
- 1/4 teaspoon Redmond Real Salt
- 1/3 cup pistachios (in-shell), shelled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons coconut sugar crystals

Directions
- Combine steel cut oats, water, milk, ground cardamom, and salt in a slow cooker or large pot.
- Stir in red roses and coconut sugar crystals.
- If using slow cooker, cook on low for 7-8 hours. If using stovetop, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer covered for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove rose petals or leave for stronger floral flavor.
- Stir in Duck River honey and adjust sweetness to taste.
- Serve warm topped with chopped pistachios.
Notes
- For stronger rose flavor, steep red roses in hot milk for 15 minutes before adding to oats.
- Substitute almonds or walnuts for pistachios if preferred.
- Leftovers keep refrigerated for up to 4 days and reheat well with additional milk.
