This smoothie is thick, creamy, and deeply chocolatey, but there is nothing artificial in it. Frozen banana gives it milkshake-like body, cacao powder delivers a rich chocolate flavor, and a handful of oats adds staying power so it actually keeps you full. It is a great breakfast on the go or an afternoon treat.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 large banana, frozen
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1 tbsp Duck River honey or sweetener of choice
- 1 tbsp whole black chia seeds (optional)

Directions
- Add the milk, frozen banana, cacao powder, oats, and honey to a blender.
- Blend on high for 45 to 60 seconds until completely smooth and thick.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy right away.
Notes
- Peel and freeze ripe bananas ahead of time. Keep a stash in the freezer so you can make this any time.
- Add a tablespoon of almond butter or peanut butter for extra protein and richness.
- For a mocha smoothie, add a shot of cooled espresso or a tablespoon of brewed Craft & King medium roast.
