This deep purple smoothie packs immune-supporting elderberries with warming ginger and cinnamon for a delicious wellness boost. The natural sweetness from dates balances the tartness of elderberries perfectly.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons elderberries
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
- 3 unpitted medjool dates, pitted
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup coconut milk or plant milk
- 1 tablespoon whole black chia seeds
- Ice cubes as needed

Directions
- Steep elderberries in hot water for 10 minutes to create a concentrated tea. Strain out berries and let liquid cool slightly.
- Remove pits from dates and soak in warm water for 5 minutes if very firm.
- In a high-speed blender, combine elderberry tea, banana, blueberries, pitted dates, ginger, and cinnamon.
- Add coconut milk and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Add chia seeds and pulse briefly to incorporate without grinding.
- Add ice as needed for desired consistency and blend again.
- Serve immediately while cold.
Notes
- Substitute goji berries soaked in hot water for a different antioxidant boost.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon ashwagandha powder for additional adaptogenic support.
- Try TN maple syrup instead of dates for a different sweetener option.
