Golden Milk Latte

Golden milk has been a comfort drink for centuries, and once you try a homemade version, the appeal is obvious. Turmeric gives it that gorgeous golden color, while cinnamon and ginger add warmth in every sip. A pinch of black pepper helps your body absorb the turmeric, and a drizzle of honey rounds everything out with gentle sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk of choice (oat, coconut, or whole milk)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Duck River honey
  • 1/2 tsp extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil (optional, for richness)

*Bolded ingredients are products we typically carry at Tare Bulk Foods.

Directions

  1. Add the milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper to a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
  2. Whisk continuously as the milk heats for about 3 to 4 minutes. Do not let it boil.
  3. Once the milk is hot and steaming, remove from heat and stir in the honey and oil if using.
  4. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy warm.

Notes

  • For an iced version, brew a stronger concentrate with half the milk, then pour over ice and top off with cold milk.
  • Add a pinch of ashwagandha powder for an adaptogenic boost.
  • Swap the Duck River honey for TN maple syrup to keep it fully vegan.
