Golden milk has been a staple in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries, and once you try it you'll understand why. This warming latte gets its color from turmeric and its depth from a blend of spices that feels like a hug in a mug. It's caffeine-free and perfect as a wind-down drink before bed.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups milk of choice (oat milk or full-fat coconut milk work best)
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- ½ tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
- ¼ tsp Ginger (ground)
- Pinch of Black Pepper (helps your body absorb the turmeric)
- 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee
- 1 to 2 tsp Duck River Honey or TN Maple Syrup
*Bolded ingredients are products we carry at Tare Bulk Foods.
Directions
- Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Don't let it boil.
- Whisk in the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper until smooth and no clumps remain.
- Add the coconut oil and stir until melted and fully incorporated.
- Heat for 3 to 4 minutes, whisking occasionally, until steaming.
- Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup to taste. Pour into your favorite mug.
Notes
- For a frothier latte, blend the warmed mixture in a blender for 15 seconds or use a milk frother.
- Make a big batch of the dry spice blend (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, pepper) and store in a jar. Then just scoop and stir when the craving hits.
- Add a pinch of ashwagandha powder for extra adaptogenic benefits.
