Golden Milk Turmeric Latte

Golden milk has been a staple in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries, and once you try it you'll understand why. This warming latte gets its color from turmeric and its depth from a blend of spices that feels like a hug in a mug. It's caffeine-free and perfect as a wind-down drink before bed.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups milk of choice (oat milk or full-fat coconut milk work best)
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • ½ tsp Ceylon Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Ginger (ground)
  • Pinch of Black Pepper (helps your body absorb the turmeric)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee
  • 1 to 2 tsp Duck River Honey or TN Maple Syrup

*Bolded ingredients are products we carry at Tare Bulk Foods.

Directions

  1. Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Don't let it boil.
  2. Whisk in the turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper until smooth and no clumps remain.
  3. Add the coconut oil and stir until melted and fully incorporated.
  4. Heat for 3 to 4 minutes, whisking occasionally, until steaming.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup to taste. Pour into your favorite mug.

Notes

  • For a frothier latte, blend the warmed mixture in a blender for 15 seconds or use a milk frother.
  • Make a big batch of the dry spice blend (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, pepper) and store in a jar. Then just scoop and stir when the craving hits.
  • Add a pinch of ashwagandha powder for extra adaptogenic benefits.
