This warming tea brings together some of the most well-known herbs for joint comfort. Turmeric and ginger provide deep, spicy warmth, while nettle leaf adds a mineral-rich, earthy backbone. A pinch of black pepper ties it all together and helps your body absorb the curcumin in turmeric. It is a satisfying, full-bodied cup that tastes as good as it feels.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp ginger root
- 1 tbsp nettle leaf
- ⅛ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups water
*Bolded ingredients are products we typically carry at Tare Bulk Foods.
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a mug.
- Add a squeeze of lemon and a spoonful of honey if desired.
Notes
- Simmering (rather than just steeping) is important here because turmeric and ginger root release more of their beneficial compounds with sustained heat.
- Add a teaspoon of Duck River honey to balance the earthy, spicy flavors.
- Drink daily for the best results. Many people notice a difference after a week or two of consistent use.
