These creamy steel cut oats cook low and slow to develop their signature chewy texture and nutty flavor. Sweet maple syrup and warming cinnamon transform this simple grain into a luxurious breakfast that will keep you satisfied all morning long.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Steel Cut Oats
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon Redmond Real Salt
- 3 tablespoons TN Maple Syrup
- 1 teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- 1/4 cup Pecan Halves (raw), chopped

Directions
- Bring water and salt to a boil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Stir in steel cut oats and return to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer partially covered, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes until oats are tender and creamy.
- Stir in maple syrup, cinnamon, butter, and milk. Cook 2-3 minutes more until heated through.
- Serve immediately topped with chopped pecans and extra maple syrup if desired.
Notes
- Make a big batch and reheat portions with extra milk throughout the week.
- Try Walnuts (raw) or California Almonds (raw) for different nut toppings.
- Add Dried Cranberries (Apple Juice Infused) during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
