This smoothie is rich, creamy, and naturally sweet from medjool dates. It tastes like an almond butter milkshake but it is loaded with real food. The cinnamon and pinch of salt round everything out and keep it from being one-note sweet. It is thick enough to be a meal on its own.
Ingredients
- 3 Medjool dates, pitted
- 2 tbsp California almonds
- 1 ripe banana, frozen
- 1 cup milk of choice
- ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of Redmond Real Salt
- ½ cup ice

Directions
- If your dates are not soft, soak them in hot water for 10 minutes and drain.
- Add the dates, almonds, banana, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and ice to a blender.
- Blend on high for 1 to 2 minutes until completely smooth. The dates should be fully broken down.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy.
Notes
- Add a tablespoon of cacao powder for a chocolate date shake variation.
- Swap the almonds for cashew pieces for an even creamier result.
- This works great as a pre-workout or post-workout drink too.
